Laurie Young has been working with glass for many years, transitioning from flat (stained) glass work, to fusing to casting to the torch. After graduating with Honours from Monash University Glass department she and Chris formed Nudibranch Art Glass. Working both collaboratively and individually, they produce a range of work from small items such as jewelry and perfume bottles to large scale sculpture.
Together they have been finalists in the Ranamok Australasian Prize for Contemporary Glass seven times, as well as first place winners in the international professional category for Flow Magazine, Spring 2010. Their work is highly sought after, and graces the collections of Sir Elton John, the Sultan of Brunei, Kobe Lampworking Museum, Shanghai National Theater and numerous private and public collections around the world. Their jewelry was recently chosen by the World Health Organization to give as tokens of appreciation to visiting scientists.
